Where do you go from here?
Where do you go from here?
“‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth,
New Orleans, like many recent college graduates, needs direction. Both the city and the graduate are poised to move onto better things but have so many questions - When? What? and Who will help? How do we move on, rebuild, or restart our lives in a way Christ would want?
The New Orleans Fellows Program hopes to enable
young, Christian leaders to reshape New Orleans
in the image of God’s Kingdom.
Young men and women with a heart for the city come to the New Orleans Fellows Program and, through work, study and prayer, learn to serve as an example, inspiration, mentor and friend to the struggling.
In turn, the Fellows, themselves, will be transformed. Instead of choosing the trappings of success, New Orleans Fellows choose to follow Christ and to serve others. Learning to incorporate their passion for social justice and love of God into their adult lives, the Fellows leave with an understanding of how to navigate the difficulties of the real world without compromising their Christian values. See Colossians 1:10-13.
Further, individual transformation yields community transformation. By having young urban-minded Christians serve New Orleans, the city and her residents will be renewed. See 1 Thes. 1 6-7. For, we know transformed lives transform lives.
Leaving the Nest
Making the transition from the community of college life to the market place of the ‘real world’ can be difficult. It can leave even the most spiritual, devoted Christian wondering “where does Christ fit into my new life? How do I bring God’s Kingdom into my real world?”
The New Orleans Fellows Program provides a natural bridge from college to workplace where a young Christian can study, witness and experience how to carve a Christian life out of our commercial, self-centered world.
whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
you did for me.’”
